Located in beautiful Hervey Bay, with open views incorporating World Heritage Fraser Island, the Hervey Boat Boat Club prides itself as one of Australia’s premier regional clubs. The club is vast, boasting; more than 20,000 members, a bistro restaurant, cafe, multiple bars, wedding & function facilities and daily live entertainment & competitions.

When our relationship with the Boat Club began they were in a dire situation. Their website had gone offline overnight without explanation from their previous developers.

Whilst approaching the development with the key goal of getting the club back online asap, we didn’t cut corners and effectively delivered a site that exceeded the expectations of what was possible under a tight deadline.

The new site also advanced the clubs online facilities, introducing an improved site wide CMS, rich appealing design, Event Management, Email Subscriptions, Announcements, Social media integration and on-page editing!

Whats On

One of the clubs key differentiators is the character of daily live entertainment. We developed a system which put event acts front-and-center. The system boasts two viewing options; the default allowing patrons to view at-a-glance events over the next 7 days, while the second view allows a broader calendar view of upcoming events month-by-month.

Events Management

The Events System also addresses a significant time drain by automatically generating printable Entertainment Guides, which were previously manually created by staff. Club wide Event data entry is now completed only once, as opposed to three times.

Content Management (CMS)

We built the new site around an advanced CMS, affording greater control to club administrators. The CMS enables the club to easily manage every detail of the site, including Events, IntraClub sections, facilities, contact information and announcements.

Security permissions allow staff appropriate hierarchical levels of access and control over specific areas and pages of the site.

For offsite, sub-club (or IntraClub) administrators, an intuitive on-page editing system was developed allowing these members to edit their own IntraClub pages without full CMS access.

Analytics & Optimisation

As part of our ongoing relationship with the club we monitor the sites performance through Google Analytics, providing monthly reports on visitation and user behaviour. By reviewing this data we can identify opportunities and issues, and make considered recommendations to improve site performance based on our findings.

Ongoing Relationship & Support

We enjoy an ongoing relationship with the Boat Club providing Help and Support whenever necessary, or simply advising them on new features or other online tools. Often a new system, no matter how intuitive, is daunting if not used regularly. Club administrators know that they are only ever a phone call away from the team that built the site.
