Baked a Cake

Responsive Blog & Branding

The brief for this little site was exactly that. Brief. In fact, it was three words.

Girly. Pink. Cakey.

Delaneydavidson developed a brand and website for their client, an aspiring at home baker, as a surprise for her birthday. The design of the site was an excuse for the team to exercise their feminine sides, and the result was a tidy new blog site with a difference.

Brand

DelaneyDavidson developed a logo and theme for Baked a Cake from scratch, with the ultimate aim to create a brand that could eventually transform the blog design into the identity of a cake decorating business.

Responsive Design

The target market of Baked a Cake was wide and varied, covering everyone from uni students to busy mums, and from amateur bakers to devoted foodies. For this reason, DelaneyDavidson recommended a responsive design be implemented, for two main reasons. Firstly, the ability to view the site on a mobile phone allowed mums to fit the site around their hectic schedules, and take advantage of any moments of downtime.

Secondly, the tablet version of the site is ideal for propping up in the kitchen and following along with the recipes. This decision has proven a good one in the 6 months since launch, with over 50% of the site's visits originating on a mobile device.
